Project Announcement: Innovation in Carbon Monoxide Detection – A New Way of Protecting Homes and Keeping People Safe from CO

We are proud to announce our collaboration in an exciting new project, which we believe will change the way we protect homes and keep people safe from carbon monoxide.

For the past year we have been working with the Energy Innovation Centre and this collaboration has led to the backing of three major gas distribution networks – National Grid, Wales & West Utilities and Northern Gas.

The three networks will install our carbon monoxide detectors throughout 600 homes in the UK. We will be monitoring those detectors and their results.

Our innovative carbon monoxide detector uses smart technology which allows us to obtain results from all of the detectors which will be installed in homes throughout the country. The devices self-test, collate the information and send the results back to a computer portal. We will be able to see at a glance if a detector is faulty, if it needs a battery change or if there are dangerous levels of CO in a property.

The project officially started in July 2014, the detectors are due for installation in November 2014, and they will remain in place for seven months.

We will be keeping our news feed and blog updated as the monitoring process develops.

In the meantime, please see the excellent National Grid video explaining the project and highlighting the importance of keeping your home and family safe from carbon monoxide.
